It’s that time of the year. For limos — or station wagons. For high heels — or flip flops. For flowers — or not. This Typewriter Rodeo poem celebrates all the different ways people do prom.
Prom
I see you
in your shiniest shoes
your spikiest heels
your well worn boots
your bright blue chucks
Trying on dresses in the swanky boutique
Digging through the racks for the
perfect thrift store score
Stitching away at all hours til you’re
twirling your own creation
I dig your sleek suit
your crisp tux
your just plain ole comfortable jeans
I see you
finding something that lets you
feel the most like
you
Because being you
and sharing your awesome self
is the best way
such a powerful way
to make your next
bold leap
into the world
That, and staying up way too late
dancing to Lizzo
until you
kick your shoes off
