Typewriter Rodeo: Summer Beer

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

As the Texas heat settles in to stay awhile, some people’s thoughts turn to a cool, refreshing beer. And it’s better if the brew is local.

Summer Beer

The air, too humid

The sun, too near

Oh come here my savior

My cool summer beer

I love those beads

Slipping down your side

Almost as much

As I love what’s inside

Perhaps a wheat beer

Or a Pearl Snap Pils

And Devil’s Backbone I love you

No I do — for reals

Even while I’m sweating

From head to toe

With each sip you cool me

Nice and slow

Oh you rock our hot world!

Round and round you spin us!

Summer’s perfect for beer!

Well except from Guinness.
