Many Texans will tell you everything about their alma mater in a matter of seconds, whether you asked about it or not – right down to the mascot and stadium seating situation. That was the inspiration for Typewriter Rodeo’s Sean Petrie as he wrote this week’s poem.
Texas College Mascots
Oh there’s so many mascots
In our Lone Star State
Those Ags, they can whoop!
Those Red Raiders shoot straight!
Up there in Ft. Worth
All the frogs, they’re horned
And don’t you dare mess with Bevo
Consider yourself warned
In Dallas the Mustangs
Run fast and run sure
And in Waco those Bears
Are fierce, and hardcore
Oh the list goes on
From Cougars to Mean Green
Bobcats Bearkats and Miners
And all those in between!
Yup as many different ones
As there are styles of trucks
But one thing we agree on—
OU still sucks.
