Typewriter Rodeo: Texas Peaches

Each week, the Texas Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on a relevant headline or topic.

In the Texas Hill Country, stands are set up on the sides of roads hawking “Fredricksburg peaches” by the pound. That was the inspiration for this week’s Typewriter Rodeo poem by Kari Anne Roy.

Texas Peaches

One bite

Just one

And the world is lost

Your eyes roll back in your head

And summertime

Explodes

On your tongue

Sweet trips to the coast

Long rides in the Hill Country

Texas

Imbibed

In one bite

One juicy moment

Where you

And the peach

And Texas

Become one
