Typewriter Rodeo: Tubing Down A river

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

You could spend those hot summer days just swimming or sun bathing. But if you’re near a Texas river with accommodating rapids, consider adding an inner tube, a cooler of beer and some friends to the mix.

Tubing Down A River

First grab some shorts

And sandals too

Then round up some friends –

A fun-floatin’ crew!

Lather on the sunscreen

Slip on those cheap shades

Fill that cooler

With beer and lemonade

Then pick out a tube

And slide on – or just leap!

Doesn’t really matter

The water’s not deep

And now, lean back

Let yourself twist and swirl

You can stick close to your friends

Or float along in your world

Sippin’ that beer

As the day sweetly passes

The only thing that you’ve lost

Are those cheap sunglasses.
