Meta plans to test paywalled features for its social media apps: Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. It’s not yet known exactly what the paid services will offer, but it’s likely that AI will be a part of it.

Tech expert Omar Gallaga says Meta isn’t the first company to add paid features to once-free social platforms.

Highlights from this segment:

– Meta has confirmed that it plans to test paywalled features for individual users, but the company has not described the features or announced a timeline.

– Premium features could include better AI tools, like better image-creation access.

– LinkedIn, X – formerly Twitter – and SnapChat have all added paid features to their services.
