New Data Dives Into Tech Employees’ Political Donations

A majority of big tech employees who donated more than $200 over the last 18 months favored Biden.

The Trump administration and Silicon Valley don’t often see eye to eye. The president has criticized social media companies, alleging unfair bias, and many tech workers have spoken out against the Trump administration’s immigration policies. Now, an analysis of campaign donation data by campaign finance watchdog Open Secrets, and Wired Magazine, confirms what many might suspect – that the tech sector favors Joe Biden for president. But it also gives a by-the-numbers look at the relationship between the tech sector and the White House.

Tech expert Omar Gallaga told Texas Standard that employees from Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, and Oracle are contributing to candidates more than they did four years ago.
