Who are you? How do you anchor yourself? What’s in, as they say, a name? It’s something to ponder and explore in this Typewriter Rodeo poem.
My name
Out here I am a spinning wheel of
kaleidoscope beams bursting
while my bare feet sweep
Texas grass, blades of a world bending
with me
I am not sure what wakes up first…
the light over the clouds or this
necessary unyielding
At my chest is a heaviness that
lingers long but,
like the world with its vicious
mass, I am still here spinning despite
amethyst oblivion
Listen
I am not scared to bring
all the wind with me as it
calls my name
