Typewriter Rodeo: Snow Cones

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

It’s hot. Want to drink something cold? Many Texans turn to snow cones. That was the inspiration for this Typewriter Rodeo poem.

Snow Cones

The summer is dripping
With endless heat
Almost too hot
To be on the street!

Yet there’s one sure thing
That makes it worthwhile
A way to face those triple-digits
With a sweet, cool smile

Step up to the stand!
Make your selection!
Right here in a cup
Is icy perfection!

Maybe grape or cherry
Or watermelon surprise
Want to mix two flavors?
Give it a try!

It seems so simple
Just syrup and ice
But on a summer day?
It’s pure delight

So go grab a snow cone
You’ll be glad you did!
The treat that makes us all
Feel like a kid.
