All across the state
The legislature is planning to ban
Texting
While driving
“and other distractions”
But of course you heard
And of course you read
Just now
YOU
The driver in front of me
Head down
Holding up
The world
And maybe, just maybe
Your lap is so super incredibly interesting
That the rest of us peons
Should just wait
While the light goes back
To red.
And maybe, just maybe
This new bill will do the trick
And you’ll look up
And realize you have a rearview
And people all around
Your little world.
But me? I’m not holding breath.
Oh no.
Instead I’m introducing my own bill
A statewide ban
On bad drivers
