There aren’t a lot of things in this world that are free — except, sometimes, work coffee. But is it really free? That was the inspiration for this Typewriter Rodeo poem.
WORK COFFEE
They say a free lunch
Doesn’t exist
That everything has a price
But what about this?
This cup of brown liquid
Provided at work
I can drink all I want
Of this watery murk
And I don’t pay a dime
Not even a cent
Always here to boost me
When my brain is spent
I can load it with creamer
And sugar too
I don’t pay for those either–
It’s really quite the coup!
Yup it’s endless and free
Here at the work-place
The only price that I pay
Is that horrible taste.
