Looks like the governor isn’t taking the Labor Day holiday off.
Gov. Greg Abbott takes his first international trip to Mexico this weekend, along with a group of Texas business leaders. The group arrived in Mexico on Sunday and plan to meet with Mexican business leaders, as well as the government of President Enrique Peña Nieto.
Alfredo Corchado, Dallas Morning News Mexico Bureau Chief, writes that Abbott will have to toe a “fine line between diplomacy and keeping his conservative base happy.”
Corchado talks to the Standard about what Texans can expect from the Governor’s visit, from immigration issues to potential politics with Peña Nieto.
