Museum leaders say they want visitors to understand the roots of the Nazi ideology that led to the Holocaust.

When Dallas’ Holocaust museum reopens in a few weeks it will not only be in a new building five times the size of its previous location, but will take visitors on a journey that also includes modern-day genocides and the evolution of human and civil rights in the U.S.

The Dallas Holocaust Museum has a new home, a new name, and a new mission.
KERA’s Arts&Seek spoke with the museum’s leadership about why they decided their visitors needed to learn about more than just the mass murder of Jews during World War II. And they say they think all the genocides that have happened since the 1940s are part of a larger human rights struggle.
