Exhibit highlights relationship between JFK, LBJ and their speechwriter
The exhibit “History and Fate,” currently at the Briscoe Center for American History at UT Austin, highlights the papers of presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin and her husband, Dick Goodwin. He served as a speechwriter for Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson, along with Robert F. Kennedy.
Doris Kearns-Goodwin talks about her husband’s close relationships with the leaders he worked for, and how those relationships are reflected in the Briscoe Center exhibit.
New stops on the Texas Museum Map
The Texas Museum Map adds a handful of new stops: toy museums in Wylie and Austin, plus an archive of Bastrop’s history.

Longhorns and Aggies football to face off for the first time in 13 years
One of college football’s most historic rivalries finally returns as the University of Texas Longhorns and the Texas A&M Aggies meet Saturday in College Station. Not only is it the first time in 13 years the football teams have met, the winner gets a ticket to the SEC title game.

If you want to buy raw milk in Texas – or in most states – don’t go to a grocery store. The only place to find unpasteurized milk is to buy it directly from a dairy registered with the state.
Pasteurization kills dangerous bacteria in milk and extends its shelf life. Nonetheless, there is demand for the raw stuff – and more public officials are saying that folks should be able to have it if they want it.
John Lucey, director of the Center for Dairy Research and a professor of food science at the University of Wisconsin, joins us with some of the raw facts.
