It’s May, and for many Texans that means graduation. That was the inspiration behind this week’s Typewriter Rodeo poem by Jodi Egerton.
Commencement
And with a swish of a tassel,
you’re free
No more papers
No more exams
No more grades
And you gather together one last time
Students and teachers, now colleagues in life
Draped in wizarding robes
And absurd pointed hats
Cheering successes
Releasing stresses
Applauding best guesses
And mostly reflecting–on all your learned
all you know
how you’ve grown
and where you’ll go
