This time of year, human Texans are not the only ones enjoying the array of bright wildflowers. This Typewriter Rodeo poem came by listener request.

Migrating Butterflies
(for listener Phyllis Leverich)

We all have to get
From here to there
We all feel the call
The pull
To go back home
Or perhaps to move on
To the next great destination

But is it easy?
Well, unless you have a Star Trek
Transporter beam
Or a TARDIS
There is always
A journey
Where you unfold your wings
Try and make sure
You packed everything
Try and look
Both ways
And then — alight!
Take off!
Flap and fly and flutter
With all your might and hope!

And as you go on your journey
Rejoice in the others
Who have made it
And give a windshield salute
To the strength and determination
Of those who had the courage
To venture forth

Because we are all
Flying though this
Together.
